Tournament Guidelines & Regulations
Standard Rules and Regulations of the Smash for Diabetes 2024 provides the detail on every aspect of the game of Badminton.
I. PURPOSES
- Ensure and maintain fair and orderly on the Badminton tournament, and to protect the Players’ rights and the respective rights of the Organizers, Sponsors, and the Public
- To promote sportsmanship, camaraderie among the community
- To uphold the integrity of Badminton
II. APPLICABILITY
- This tournament guidelines and code of conduct is applicable to all Players participating in the Smash for Diabetes 2024
- All Players are subject to the Code and the Laws of Badminton. Each Player who submitted in the tournament shall accept this Code, the Competition Regulations and the Laws of Badminton and therefore be bound by them.
III. LEVELLING
- The Organizing Committee shall be in charged of assigning the proper levels in all events. Levelling results is applicable and intended for this tournament only.
- Acceptance of entries is on a first come-first served basis.
- There will be a limited number of entries available. In the event of a withdrawal, the organizing committee has the right to replace an entry with an entry from the waiting list as long as the competition has not started.
IV. SCORING SYSTEM
- ELIMINATION ROUND
- Scoring is 1 – 30. Change court on 15, sudden death point. No Deuce.
- The no. of games win.
- In case of a double tie, win-over-the-another rule shall apply.
- If three or more teams have won the same number of matches, ranking will be established as per the BWF guidelines and standards
- SEMI FINALS & Finals
- Scoring is 1 – 30. Change court on 15, sudden death point. No Deuce
- The umpire’s decision is final and always be respected.However, in case of dispute or discrepancies, the Official Referee shall have the final decision.
- WALK OVERFailure to attend the final call of the match control committee and failure to play during a scheduled match.When to WALK OVER a default:
- Absence during the scheduled match
- 1st Call (3 min.), 2nd Call (3 min.), 3rd and Final Call (3 Min.) of a scheduled match.
- In case of medical emergency, accident and/or health risk; it is the decision of the Umpire to call and seek for a Medical advice and WALK OVER t if deemed necessary.
VI. SUBSTITUTION/CHANGE OF PARTNERS
Entries into and withdrawal from the tournament requires a fair approach to protect all Players from the possibility of manipulation to give any one Player possible advantage. Players need to follow a set of rules including the following:
- Players shall not withdraw from either the qualifying or main draw after publication of the draw without evidence or proof of “bona fide” injury, illness, bereavement or other emergency situation. Notification for substitution of players must be made at least 48 hrs before the tournament day.
- Substitution or change of players without proper justification and approval from the organizers is strictly prohibited and subject to penalties and disqualification.
VII. CONDUCT AND DECORUM
Players are responsible for their on‐court presentation, behavior, conduct and performance including the following:
- Not arriving late for a match, resulting in a “no-show”.
- Players are expected to display sportsmanship at all times during the tournament.
- Always using one’s “best efforts” to win a match.
- Completing a match in progress unless reasonably unable to do so.
- Respecting technical officials and not trying to influence the decisions of technical officials in any way using an arm, hand, racket gestures, or orally.
- Not intentionally hitting a shuttle dangerously or recklessly within or out of the court, hitting a shuttle with negligent disregard for the consequences, or deliberately damaging a shuttle.
VIII. OTHER PROVISIONS
- Only players and technical officials are allowed to access to Badminton court.
- Players must have a valid visa or identification (eg. Passport, Emirates ID)
- Clubs and players are advised to follow the timings and schedules. WALK OVER system for players not present in the court will be imposed with exception on prayer timings.
- Payment shall be made online. Only paid entries will be confirmed for the tournament
- Fixtures and schedules will be release a week before the tournament
- Players are requested to report at the match control 15 min before the time of their scheduled match. Failure to do so will result in default after the Final call of the emcee.
- Any protest as to the levelling or eligibility of the player/s shall be brought to the attention of the organizers by writing a letter of protest made by any interested player stating the name of the player/s and the reason/s for his/her disqualification only not more than 48 hours before the scheduled match. A protest fee of 200 AED will be applied.
- The organizer reserves the right to make any changes in the program and has the right to cancel any events if necessary requirements are not fulfilled or met.
